I wrote a 4000-plus word feature article for ESPNCricinfo’s The Cricket Monthly digital magazine about the rise of the bat-up method amongst Australian batsmen over the past decade.

The article features the thoughts of the likes of Mike Hussey, Greg Chappell, Justin Langer, Ed Cowan, Brad Hodge, Peter Handscomb, Greg Shipperd and Ian Callen on the issue.

Dean Plunkett, the WACA’s Performance Information Coordinator, has kindly given me permission to publish his photos and videos of Australia’s top 15 Test and Shield run-scorers at around the time the bowler jumps into his delivery stride. Please see below for the photos. The videos take quite a while to upload so I’ll post them here in due course when I have time.
